Day 9: Media Becomes One

We were tasked to categorize different media. This is my work.

My own definitions of different media:
  • Print Media - any information source that is printed or typewritten.
  • Broadcast Media - any information source that is in the form of an audio, visual or audiovisual.
  • New Media - any information source that utilizes the advancements in technology.

With the aid of media convergence, we are able to convert between traditional media and new media.

This feature allows for interaction between the two. Now that the gap between the two media have been bridged, information flows easily between the two. Simple acts such as reading have become multi-dimensional activities, one that involves reading on paper and reading on a device.

One of the most dominant new media are social media platforms. Today, social media single-handedly dictates which issues are "worth" talking about. The way we view society is shaped greatly by the influence of Facebook, Twitter, and the like.

In the age of media convergence, of social media, one single post (a single picture, or any singular evidence) can make or break one's reputation. As such, we must thread this path critically.
